Profile pictures, cut-out product shots, slide thumbnails — you just need the background gone, and that's oddly tedious. Most background-removal sites upload your photo to a server to do it, which is uncomfortable when the picture has a face in it or shows a product that isn't public yet. When it happens inside the browser, your photo never leaves your device.

Remove the background in one click with AI

  1. 1Open the image editor and load your photo.
  2. 2In the ‘Background’ tab, click ‘Remove background with AI.’ The first time, it takes a moment to download the model.
  3. 3Check the result and save the image.

TipThe sharper the edge between subject and background — as with people or products — the cleaner the cut. Hair tips and semi-transparent areas may not be perfect, so give the result a quick look.

For a solid background, ‘color key’ is more precise

If the background is a single color — like the white or blue of an ID photo — picking that color to make it transparent (a color key) is often faster and cleaner. Reach for it when the AI removal isn't quite right.

Save transparency as PNG or WEBP

If you save as JPEG after removing the background, the transparent areas get filled with white. To keep the transparency, save as PNG or WEBP. This matters especially if you plan to layer the image over another.

When you'd use this

  • Clean up a profile or ID photo to a solid or transparent background
  • Make cut-out product images for an online store
  • Extract a person or object for a slide deck or thumbnail

Why in-browser processing helps

  • Your photo is never sent to a server, so there is nothing to leak.
  • No sign-up, no software to install.
  • Once loaded, it works even with no internet connection.

Remove a photo's background right in your browser, right now.
